Lottery Pools App Review

Lottery pools are an effective way to maximize your chances of being a winner in your favourite lottery. As such, apps that allow you to create and manage lottery pools are becoming increasingly popular amongst lottery pool bosses. In this Lottery Pools Android app review, we will look at what this app can do and how it can benefit you in your attempts to manage a successful lottery pool.

Lottery Pools ReviewStand-Out Feature

As implied by the name, the main function of Lottery Pools is to allow you to create and manage your own lottery pools. Lottery pools allow you and other players to gather all your money into a central pool—thereby raising the amount that you can collectively spend on lottery tickets. This leads to more ticket purchases and in turn a higher chance of winning.

When first opening the app, you will be required to create an account in order to make use of the main functions of the app. This you can do by registering your email address or by simply using your Google account details. Once signed in, you will be able to create your own custom pools and view the currently available public pools.

To join a public pool all you need to do is to select public pools from the home page. This will display a list of available public pools for you to choose from. Simply tap on the pool that you would like to join and then tap Request to Join. The creator of the pool will then receive a notice that you wish to join their pool and will be required to accept or deny the request. This will also occur to you if somebody is requesting to join your public pool.

To create your own pool, all that is needed is to tap the + icon at the top of your screen. You will be presented with a pop-up dialogue box into which you will need to enter in a name for your pool and select whether you would like to make your pool public (anyone can join) or private (only people you personally invite can join).

Once you have entered these details and selected Create, you will move to your pool management screen. From here you can do the following:

  • Add Participants: Here you can select to add other people to your pool, either from your device contact list or manually. You will need to enter in the name of the player, their email address, and their contact number. You can then select whether they should receive SMS notifications about the pool or not. Once all those details have been captured, you will be asked to enter in the amount that this player has contributed to the pool. This is entered in as a dollar value and is displayed underneath their name in your main participant list. If you would like to change any of these details later, you simply need to tap on the player name from your main participant list.
  • Refresh Participants: This causes the app to refresh the current list of players that make up your pool.
  • Add Ticket: From this screen you can add the details of a ticket that you have purchased for the pool. It is important to note from the start that once this information is saved there is no way that you can edit it. Therefore, care needs to be taken to ensure that the information is correct when entering it in initially.

To add a new ticket, you will need to provide a description, the numbers that were played on the ticket, the date of the draw that the ticket is valid for, and a photo of the physical ticket. This photo can be captured from within the app by using your device camera.

Once you have entered in all this information, you will be able to save the ticket, causing it to appear in your current ticket list on your main pool management screen. As soon as a new ticket is added, all participants in your pool will receive an email to inform them that a new ticket has been added.

  • Refresh Tickets: As with the participants, this causes the app to refresh the list of current tickets to ensure that you are seeing all the entries that are relevant.

Lottery Pools Android ScreenshotAdditional Features

Lottery Pools does not really have any additional features to specifically speak of. However, we did stumble upon one feature that is well hidden within the app that is quite decent.

When you are viewing your pool management screen, you can view the latest lottery results for supported lotteries (listed below) by selecting the menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen. This will result in a pop-up box that will display the last three draw results, the date that the draws took place, and what the jackpot amount of the draw was.

This is a handy feature in many lottery apps—even though it is not usually as hidden within the app menus as it is in Lottery Pools.

Location & Lotteries Available

There are only two supported lotteries in Lottery Pools. These are the US Powerball and Mega Millions.

User Interface & Usability

The look of Lottery Pools is not modern and sleek as we have come to expect from most apps that are on the Play Store. However, the app does make it easy to find what you are looking for and is surprisingly responsive when navigating around within the app. The developer has also ensured that full-view mode is supported by default—something that we expect from all apps due to the popularity of infinity screen designs among modern devices.

Ads

The only ads that you will encounter within Lottery Pools are full-screen ads that appear when navigating between main screens in the app (i.e. from a pool management screen back to the home screen). These are easily dismissed and are not a nuisance, but there is an option to remove the ads if they do begin to annoy you that costs only about US $1—which is well worth it considering it likely supports the developer more than ads would.

Conclusion – Lottery Pools Review

Lottery Pools is a very useful application for pool managers, as it allows you to enter a great deal of information about each ticket in the pool and about the participants that are in the pool. It is, however, slightly let-down by the outdated design that the developer used. That being said, it is still great to use and should help you in any pool management that you need.
