Lottery Jackpot Genie App Review

Lottery Jackpot Genie runs alongside the lotteryjackpotgenie.com website that allows lottery users from all over the world easy access to privately made, custom lottery pools. It should come as no surprise, therefore, that the app allows the same functionality—with a few extras. In this Lottery Jackpot Genie Android/iOS app review, we will look at what functionality the app has and whether it is worth spending some time with or not.

Stand-Out Feature

Lottery Jackpot Genie ReviewThe stand-out feature of Lottery Jackpot Genie is, as with the website, lottery pools. These lottery pools allow you to create groups of friends, family members, and co-workers who all ‘pool’ their resources together in order to buy more lottery tickets than they would have been able to do on their own. If any of the tickets are a winning ticket, the spoils are then evenly distributed amongst all those who belonged in the pool.

In order to create a lottery pool from inside the app, you will need to scroll down until you come to the Pool Play section. From here you can create or join an existing pool. When creating a pool, you will receive an on-screen notification that states if you encounter any trouble with creating pools on a mobile device, it is recommended that you instead visit the lotterypoolgenie.com website—which in our opinion defeats the purpose of this app.

Once you have accepted the notification and terms and conditions that then appear, you will be able to enter in your name and email address to create your pool. You will then need to verify your email address using an email that is automatically sent to you before your pool will become active.

After your pool has been created and activated, you will need to return to the home screen in order to select which pool you would like to send to your companions or to view the pool. This is the point where the catch comes in. In order to send or view pools, you will need to purchase the premium version of the app for about US $3.

While this is not an excessive fee, it is sneaky of the developers to not mention this anywhere at all until you attempt to make use of the pool functions. However, once you have bought the application, you may continue with inviting people to your pool, entering in pool purchases, and entering in winning results to see if your pool is a winner.

The one thing that one might ask is why it is necessary to have this app in the first place? Considering that lotteryjackpotgenie.com allows you to do the same thing for free, it is slightly redundant to have to purchase an application unless you are really going to benefit from the ability to create and manage lottery pools while on the go.

Additional Features

Lottery Jackpot Genie also contains the following features:

  • Strategies: Strategies is a fancy term for random number generator. When using Strategies, you will be required to select an option from a long list of pre-set configurations (such as 2 Even / 3 Odd and 3 Low / 2 High). You will then need to tap on the small genie logo at the bottom of the statistics list. This will generate a sequence of random numbers for you to use when purchasing your next lottery ticket. However, the generator only randomly selects five numbers at a time, so for the ‘power ball’ you will need to manually select a number. The randomization algorithm is also not the strongest and tends to repeat numbers too often for our liking.
  • Statistics: While the developer has attempted to make some statistics available through the application, it has failed dismally. The statistics all appear in graphs that make no sense in any way and are not properly labelled. This leads you to not actually knowing what you are looking at and ends up being a gigantic waste of time.

Lottery Jackpot Genie Android ScreenshotLocation & Lotteries Available

There are two international lotteries supported in Lottery Jackpot Genie. These are US Powerball and Mega Millions. The ability to switch the app from one lottery to the other comes from the lottery logos that are displayed at the top of the home screen. In order to view the app in Powerball mode, simply tap the Powerball logo. This is done in the same manner for Mega Millions with the Mega Millions logo.

User Interface & Usability

The UI of Lottery Jackpot Genie is not great. The design uses a list format which displays all the options in the app on the home screen. While it is possible to use a list mode in an application and still make it look modern and contemporary, the developer put no effort into ensuring this happened here. The result is a clunky app that is not particularly nice to look at. Added to this is that the app is not very responsive and slow to act upon inputs, so its overall usability also takes a knock.

Ads

There are no ads present in the app. While this would generally make us pretty happy, we believe there's a reason for this. And that reason is the surprise payment you are required to make to enable pool play in the app—which makes it a lot less impressive.

Conclusion – Lottery Jackpot Genie Review

When we first started reviewing Lottery Jackpot Genie, it seemed like an app with a degree of potential. However, once we launched it and actually begin to interact with it, this fantasy disappeared quickly and we were instead left facing reality. With a terrible design, awful statistics, and a surprise payment on the only feature that could be a redeeming factor, this app is not something that we would actively download again and can’t recommend anyone to waste their time on either.
